King Cole Tip Toe is a fine-gauge yarn from King Cole, and one we are pleased to keep on the shelves. Each ball holds 420m, worked on 3.25mm needles to a tension of 28 stitches and 36 rows over 10cm — the sort of gauge that suits socks, mitts and other close-knitted accessories, as well as smaller projects where a firm fabric matters.

There are six shades in the range: Flamingo Flicker, Ivory Whisper and Lime Zinger sit alongside Zesty Lemonade, Midnight Sable and Tangerine Tango, so there is scope for plain pairs or contrast heels and toes from within the same range.

With 420m to a ball, a single ball goes a long way for its size, which makes it a sensible choice for gift knitting and for using up in stripes.
