King Cole Merino Blend DK is a merino yarn in the DK (double knitting) weight category, and one we keep on the shelves all year round. Each ball runs to 104m, and it is knitted on 4mm needles to a tension of 22 stitches and 28 rows over 10cm, so it slots straight into the great many patterns written to a standard DK measurement.

Merino makes it a sensible choice for jumpers and cardigans, hats, mittens and children's garments, and it takes cables and textured stitches clearly. The smooth handle also suits colourwork where you want the pattern to read well.

There are 14 shades in the range, including Raspberry, Balmoral and Confetti, with plenty of steadier options alongside them for whole-garment knitting.
