Collection: King Cole Superfine Alpaca Chunky

King Cole Superfine Alpaca Chunky is a chunky-weight yarn that we keep on the shelves here in Ledbury. Each ball gives 62m, and it is worked on 6mm needles at a tension of 14 stitches and 20 rows to 10cm, so projects grow quickly without becoming stiff or bulky.

At this weight it suits hats, cowls, mittens and simple jumpers and cardigans, as well as blankets and cushion covers where a soft, warm fabric is wanted. The tension is a standard chunky gauge, which makes it straightforward to substitute into most chunky patterns — we would still suggest knitting a tension square first, particularly for garments.

There are four shades in the range, including Grey, Charcoal and Camel, all of them quiet naturals that work well together for colourwork or striped pieces.
